Accessible Technology

Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) is committed to providing equal opportunity in accommodations, benefits, rights, and privileges of college services, programs, and activities for every qualified student with disabilities. Increasingly, the information, interactions, and services required for learning are delivered via electronic means, and these must also be accessible to every student.

To align with Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges Policy 3.20.3B and Washington State Policy 188 - Accessibility, WVC aspires to: continually work to eliminate any extra step that a student with a disability must take to access/use electronic information/learning technologies that an abled student does not have to take, and create an environment that is so welcoming that the numbers and success rates of all students increase. Ensuring equal and effective electronic information technology access is the responsibility of all WVC employees.

A number of assistive technologies (JAWS, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and more) are available on several computers in the library, in the testing center located in Wenatchi Hall, and in various classrooms as needed. Captioning assistance and consultations for document (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Adobe PDF) and Canvas (WVC’s Learning Management System) course accessibility are available through the Teaching & Learning Success Center.

A variety of training resources is available on Accessibility webpage. Please contact Jeannie Henkle, the Teaching & Learning Success Center Coordinator, at (509)682-6718 or jhenkle@wvc.edu with further questions regarding accessible technology at WVC.
