Making accessibility a priority
As part of its mission to serve the educational needs of students of diverse backgrounds, Wenatchee Valley College is making accessibility a priority.
In April 2024, the Department of Justice updated Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure that web content and mobile apps are accessible to people with disabilities. Washington state's accessibility policy, USER-01, mandates that all state agencies meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Wenatchee Valley College must be in compliance with this policy by April 2028.
These requirements include: text alternatives for non-text content, such as images; captions for prerecorded and live audio content; an audio description and/or sign language interpretation of prerecorded content; content that is easier to see and hear, such as the use of contrasting colors and resizable text; and use of headings in documents. To learn more about these requirements, visit "How to Meet WCAG (Quick Reference)."
Electronic and information technology resources that are created accessibly, following universal design standards, are usable by everyone on our campus, including those with disabilities.
