Facts About Online Courses
To determine which courses are offered online, check the course schedule or use Course Finder tool. Online courses are identified by item number or by section abbreviation:
- Online courses are assigned an item number ranging from 5000 to 5999.
- Course sections coded as VC are taught online by WVC faculty. Those courses are only available to WVC students.
- Course sections coded as HY are hybrid. Those classes have some required face-to-face meetings and some online components.
- Course sections coded as WO are taught online by faculty from other Washington State community colleges. These courses are available to students at several different colleges throughout the state.
Credits earned through an online course transfer to other programs, colleges or universities the same as face-to-face course would count toward your degree and transfer. See Transfer Degree Program and requirements.
WVC transcripts list all classes you took as regular courses. They don't show whether or not a course was taken online. The assumption is that what you learned, what you know, and are able to do as a result of learning is what matters rather than the format in which the course was delivered to you.
WVC offers a fully accredited online DTA and a full complement of academic courses online.
The college offers a variety of hybrid, evening and interactive televison (ITV) courses that apply to this degree. See the course finder for a complete listing of all credit classes. You should realize that neither the evening nor the distance degree offerings can accommodate all specific majors, and that only by attending classes on campus during the day can you specialize in most specific majors through WVC.
You can transfer or concurrently take WVC classes and online courses from other colleges. You are responsible to make sure that all courses you take from other colleges will transfer and count toward your WVC program of study. Please check with Registrar Office (509.682.6836, registrar@wvc.edu) or Educational Planner for pre-evaluation of the course you would like to take and how it may affect financial benefits you receive from WVC.
