Institutional Accreditation

Wenatchee Valley College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the NWCCU indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Inquiries regarding an institution’s accredited status by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities should be directed to the administrative staff of the institution. Individuals may also contact Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, 8060 165th Avenue NE, Suite 100, Redmond, WA 98052. Phone: 425.558.4224. Web: www.nwccu.org.

Accreditation reports

The 2022 Mid-Cycle Evaluation is used by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) to guage the institution's preparedness for full accreditation review in spring of 2025 for Standard 2 and spring 2026 for Standard 1. There are no commendations or recommendations in the Mid-Cycle Evaluation.  The required report is an abbreviated version of the report required in the 2026 Self-Study.  The evaluation is considered to be collegial and advisory.

The purpose of the Fall 2021 ad hoc evaluations was to assess progress made towards two recommendations made by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) in spring 2019 concerning a system of learning outcomes assessment and concerning the use of learning outcomes assessment.

WVC prepared an ad hoc report and a peer evaluation addressing recommendations put forth by NWCCU in 2019. In January 2021, NWCCU accepted the 2020 ad hoc report and changed the recommendation concerning Omak campus safety to "fulfilled." View the NWCCU letter of action.

In 2019, NWCCU reaffirmed the accreditation of WVC following review of the Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report, the Peer-Evaluation Report, the optional Institutional Response to the Peer-Evaluation Report, and information received as part of the institutional representative meeting with Commissioners. In their letter of action, NWCCU commended and recommended the following.
