75 Years of Excellence
The 2014-2015 academic year marks the Wenatchee Valley College's 75th anniversary. What started as a private institution in Wenatchee in 1939 as the result of donations from 51 local citizens soon grew to become part of the state's public higher education system. Originally, classes were held on the third floor of the Wenatchee High School building on the corner of King and Idaho streets until the donation of the A. Z. Wells home in 1949.
Today, the Wenatchee Valley College district boasts two campuses that serve an area the size of Massachusetts, covering more than 10,000 square miles of Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties.
Together, the Wenatchee and Omak campuses serve nearly 7,500 students, 462 full-
and part-time employees and feature 692 associate degree graduates. The result is a $19.7 million annual contribution to the regional economy.
As part of the anniversary celebration, we'll be hosting a series of events throughout the academic year to celebrate the history, heritage and evolution of Wenatchee Valley College.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 11 from 1-4 p.m. for a community celebration and open house on the Wenatchee campus. You're invited to join us for a BBQ, live music and campus tours designed to showcase the successes of Wenatchee Valley College.
If you'd like to join our mailing list to receive information on anniversary events, please provide your name, address, phone number, and email address to:email@example.com.
