This program is designed for those already working with alcoholism and drug abuse, those aspiring to become chemical dependency professionals, and those who desire this education to enhance other areas of human services such as educators, social workers, school counselors and mental health workers. Graduates of the WVC Chemical Dependency Studies program will:

The medical assistant program prepares you to support health-care professionals in a variety of health-care settings. The medical assistant performs duties in both direct patient care and administrative procedures. Graduates of the WVC Medical Assistant program will:
- Demonstrate caring and respectful communication as a medical assistant.
- Demonstrate competence in administrative duties as a medical assistant.
- Demonstrate competence in clinical duties as a medical assistant.
- Practice medical assisting collaboratively.
- Obtain employment in a variety of healthcare settings.
- Incorporate critical thinking in practice as a medical assistant.
- Demonstrate standard safety and emergency practices and procedures as a medical assistant.
- Display professionalism in their appearance, job performance, and ability to work as team members.
- Provide patient education and current community resource information.
- Practice medical assisting according to AAMA Code of Ethics.
Laboratory professionals work as part of a medical team to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury, and to promote the health and well-being of patients. The program strives to prepare graduates for careers in medical laboratories. Graduates of the WVC Medical Laboratory Technology program will be able to:
- Provide safe, competent, accurate and timely testing and reporting for all patients.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards consistent with state, federal, and deemed-status organization guidelines.
- Perform venipuncture and other required specimen collection with maximum efficiency and minimum discomfort to the patient.
- Demonstrate competency in organizational skills, such as problem solving, prioritizing, multi-tasking and goal-setting.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate essential computer skills required for successful job performance in the medical laboratory field
- Accept accountability for one’s work and actions within the ethical and legal guidelines pertaining to medical laboratory science.
- Demonstrate an appropriate professional attitude and respect toward patients, staff, and the career itself.
- Meet the eligibility requirements necessary to take the available certification exams.
The associate degree nursing program prepares students who are highly educated, technically advanced, competent and caring individuals to practice professional nursing in a variety of settings. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the examination for licensure as a registered nurse (NCLEX-RN). Graduates of the WVC Nursing program will be able to:

Their special skills serve a key function in the medical specialty of radiology, which is characterized by new and exciting advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
