Alumni Spotlight: Linley Wise '18

Linley Wise

For Linley Wise, the decision to attend Wenatchee Valley College wasn’t just about academics, it was about staying grounded in her community, continuing her athletic journey and discovering her path forward. “I chose WVC to further my volleyball career and go to school where I grew up,” she said. “I was still figuring out what I wanted to do, and WVC gave me the experience, confidence, and degree I needed to take the next step.”

Linley graduated in 2018 with an Associate of Arts and Science degree and a deep appreciation for the people and opportunities she found on campus. Her time at WVC helped her grow as a student and teammate, while also giving her the flexibility to explore different paths. “The connections I made with both students and faculty are still some of my fondest memories,” she says. “WVC was a place where I felt genuinely supported.”

That sense of community followed her as she transferred to Eastern Washington University, where she was accepted into the Dental Hygiene program. “I was able to save money, play the sport I loved, and build the academic foundation I needed for my future,” Linley explains. “WVC really prepared me to succeed at EWU. The small class sizes, the helpful instructors, the approachable environment...it made a huge difference.”

Now back in her hometown, Linley works as a dental hygienist, helping people meet their oral health goals and giving back to the community that helped shape her. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to make a positive impact in the same place that supported me as a student,” she says.

Her advice for today’s WVC students? “Take advantage of the resources around you. Ask questions. Get to know your instructors. There are so many programs and people here that want to help you succeed - don’t be afraid to use them. You’ll be surprised how much support is waiting for you.”
