I have been teaching English courses at WVC since 2010, earning tenure in 2018, and I love my job. I started my college education at WVC as a Running Start student, made my way around the world a bit, and then finally returned home in 2007 to raise my family of three wild kids. I think my passion for teaching English at college comes from my innate need to understand the world around me, and to be understood. For me, reading and writing is the best way to do that. I have a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Lubbock Christian University and a master’s degree in English from California State University. Much of my study focuses on multicultural and minorities’ literature.
Outside of the classroom, I create art and food. I travel, dance and host pool parties for my friends, and all of our kids run around like crazy. I wish I could say I had some fitness addiction, but, alas, I do not.
Quarter by quarter, class by class, my love for reading and writing has expanded to a passion for teaching, and particularly, teaching our students, here at Wenatchee Valley College. We are unique and so capable. I always knew I’d teach college-level English, but I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to teach what I love in my hometown, to my own community. It is my wish that all of my students find a job they love as much as I love mine.
