Amy Shank has taught at WVC since 2008, and she is director of the WVC WriteLab.

She has taught all grade levels (except preschool) in Mexico, the U.S. and the U.K. At WVC she teaches composition and literature.  Her areas of study are Victorian Literature, Romantic Literature, American Literature and women’s memoir writing. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the Modern Language Association and the Jane Austen Society of North America.

An ardent reader of Jane Austen, Amy gave the first presentation in the WVC Speaks Lecture Series called "Jane Austen is a Serious Writer of Comedy" in the fall of 2015.

Amy was born in Wenatchee and spent most of her childhood up the Entiat River Valley, west of Ardenvoir. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, canoeing, gardening, cross-stitching, writing poetry and fiction, and singing; she is currently learning how to knit and how to play the dobro.
